Cute carved oranges- ADORABLE Craft

I have to share this! A friend of mine made these for her daughters preschool class snack. She carved out several oranges and filled with fresh fruit. So cute and healthy for the little ones :)

I love it Amy McMichael :)))

Hand and feet print artwork- Crafts

Halloweens almost here and hand and feet art is so fun for it. We made feet prints and turned them into spooky ghosts :). The hand print pic is mommy and daughter but I haven't finished embellishing it :)

The Halloween foot one was easy to do. And I added some googly eyes to finish them up. Bought some Halloween stickers at our local craft store an Voila :)

Homemade Playdoh :) - Craft

I love making homemade playdoh for Alexa :) Its very easy to make.

Ingredients:
3 Cups Flour, sifted
1 1/2 Cups Salt
6 tsp Cream of Tartar (found in seasoning aisle)
3 1/4 Cup Water
3 TBSP Oil
Food Coloring (I get the new food gels- found by the birthday candles and decorations)

Whisk all the dry ingredients in a large pot together until all lumps are gone. Whisk in dry ingredients except for the food coloring. Cook on high heat for approx 3-4 mins until a dough ball forms. Spoon out onto a cutting board to cool and cut into separate pieces. Add food coloring and knead until color is throughout.

It does get a little messy and you might think that you won't get the color out of your hands but you will. I had fun making colors like lime green and ocean color blues. Store it in airtight containers.

Here are some pics... one while I was making it... and then the finished product.

Have fun making a batch!

Craft- Bath Tub Fun

Sometimes for bath time I will put a few colored ice cubes in the tub for playing.

I make ice cubes with a little food coloring- only a drop in a cup for about 4-5 cubes and I make a few colors. And freeze them.

Then pop a couple cubes in the tub and let the kids play with the melting cubes.

And a few people asked before if the tub or the kids get color stained- and they do not at all. There is such a small amount of color and it melts pretty quickly.

Today we used red, lime green, and orange.

Have fun making fun colors. Its great for learning colors and watching the cubes melt back to water.

Here are a few pics of the ice cubes.

Craft- Water Beads Fun

A few weeks ago a friend introduced me to water beads. Water beads are used with fresh flowers and plants in vases. They also are a fun thing to make with kids to play with and learn textures. It's so fun to see that little face as she sees the changes in size.

I bought them from our local superstore in the silk flower dept for about $1. And 1 package made a ton!

Here are some pics. Enjoy :)

Fuzzy Initial for Alexa's Room

I saw this on Pinterest (which gives me great craft ideas everyday!) and thought about the big bag of fuzzy yarn I have that will be impossible to use to knit anything ;).

I bought the letter A from our local craft store for about $3. It's a big letter- about 7".

I took the yarn and just wrapped it around and around. And used a hot glue gun when it was done to hold the edges where they need to be :). It will be cute rested on top of a dresser or shelf. Or hung on a wall :)

Easy Mini Quiche- Recipe

I love a yummy quiche. Ive been making a crustless quiche out of a cake pan for a few months and love it but thought why not make mini ones. Today we made mini quiches using a mini muffin pan. They are very easy to make and they could be froze for quick healthy breakfasts everyday.

What you need-
Mini muffin pan
6 eggs
Low fat milk
Your favorite cheese (I used Cracker Barrel extra sharp cheddar)
Broccoli (or your favorite veggie)

Preheat oven to 400 degrees. Scramble eggs with milk. If your using frozen broccoli like I do, steam it in microwave for a few minutes. Put small pieces of cooled broccoli in each muffin hole. Add a small piece of cheese. Pour egg mixture over broccoli and cheese to about 3/4 full. Bake for 6-8 mins.

To freeze, take out quiches to cool, place on cookie sheet and put in freezer uncovered for about 1 hour. Then pull out and wrap in freezer bags or saran wrap and/or foil.

Serving of 4 mini quiches= 1 egg

Let me know what you like in your quiche in the comments. Love trying new things with my family.
